RWDSU Joins Call for New Stimulus Action (11/13/09)
The RWDSU has joined labor leaders like new AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka in calls for a second stimulus action to help rebuild the U.S. economy after eight years of the disastrous policies of George W. Bush and the Republicans.
At a conference in Washington, D.C., yesterday, Trumka called for "another shot" at an economic stimulus package which would involve lending directly to small and mid-sized companies.
"Economists credit the Obama administration's economic stimulus plan with creating or saving about 1 million jobs this year, but working people are still hurting we need more measures to help bring us out of this recession," said RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum. "We support the idea of another round of stimulus action that would help create and sustain more jobs."
The AFL-CIO will present a national jobs creation strategy on November 17.
