Tell Your Senators to Pass Historic Health Care Reform (11/9/09)
On Saturday, November 7, the House passed a historic health care reform bill that would finally take some positive steps toward fixing the broken U.S. health care system. H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, creates a system that provides affordable, high-quality health care coverage to 36 million currently uninsured Americans. It will break the stranglehold of insurance company greed by providing a public option and prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage for "pre-existing conditions."
"The House bill reflects the change that people sought when they voted for Barack Obama and the Democrats a year ago. It creates sweeping reform of a health care system that has been held hostage by insurance companies for far too long, and it does it without taxing the health care benefits of the middle class," said RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum. "We need to stay engaged in this process and keep pressure on the Senate to do the right thing and pass this bill without stripping away its most important components."
