Diaz Joins in Opposition to Kingsbridge Proposal (12/11/09)
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., is joining the RWDSU and the Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance in opposing a proposal currently under consideration by the New York City Council. The proposal would not guarantee a living wage for workers at the redeveloped site, a key sticking point for the alliance calling for responsible development of the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx.
"We are happy to have Diaz' support as we try to negotiate a responsible redevelopment of the armory, one that would become a valuable part of the community and not another poverty wage center," said Jeff Eichler of the RWDSU.
A vote on the proposal is scheduled for Monday.
