NYC Council Postpones Kingsbridge Armory Vote (12/10/09)
The New York City Council yesterday postponed a vote on redevelopment plans at the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx. The Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance (KARA), a coalition of the RWDSU and other unions, churches, and community groups, is fighting for a community benefits agreement to ensure that workers at the redeveloped site are paid a living wage and would be free to join unions without employer interference.
The vote on whether or not the project will proceed is expected to happen on Friday or Monday at a special council session.
