RWDSU news from across North America
RWDSU today joined with Locals 1102 and 338 to stand in solidarity with IBEW Local 3 members on strike for a contract at the cable and internet provider Spectrum. The company is pushing to institute drastic cuts to medical and pension benefits in contract negotiations, as well as limit job security protections. IBEW members have traditionally been strong advocates for Spectrum customers, and some workers have been punished for refusing to take actions that are not in the customers' interest. IBEW Local 3 members take pride in their work, and they want to ensure that Spectrum provides great cable and internet service.
The rally took place in front of the Spectrum building on 23rd Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan. Union members from throughout the region crowded the sidewalks and made their voices heard to the Spectrum corporate leaders and passersby.
