STATEMENT FROM RWDSU PRESIDENT STUART APPELBAUM
Members in Georgia’s 6th Worked Tirelessly in Support of Jon Ossoff –
A Candidate that will Give Working People a Voice in Congress
NEW YORK, NY – Today, President Stuart Appelbaum of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) highlighted the work of members in the Georgia 6th Congressional District race in support of Jon Ossoff, who came just 5,000 votes short of an outright Primary win last night. RWDSU members will continue working in support of the campaign.
“The result of yesterday’s Georgia 6th Congressional District Special Election shows how voters are rejecting the Trump agenda and message of division,” said Stuart Appelbaum, President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). “Many of our 5,000 members across Georgia worked tirelessly to get out the vote for Jon Ossoff in the 6th, going door-to-door, making phone calls, and talking with union voters at worksites. And we are proud of how effective we were in sending voters the message that a vote for Ossoff is a vote for workers’ voices in Washington,” Appelbaum said.
“RWDSU members will be with Ossoff through the run-off on June 20, and will continue their efforts in supporting candidates who understand the concerns of working people,” Appelbaum added.
